George Orwell

As George Orwell wrote, the people will believe what the media tells them to believe. Without effective regulation, a handful of people are free to promote their own ideals and agendas using the public as pawns, safe in the knowledge the public have no way to fight back.

Nothing Changes

Nothing changes.

It’s been awhile since I posted and a lot has happened, Covid for example. What is it about the Left who constantly post comments that are personally abusive against members of the Government.  Their vitriolic comments do nothing for their cause but simply show the inability to produce reasoned arguments. And we let these people vote. The government including Boris have done as well as they could. The issue with PPE was impossible to foresee and a world shortage is what it says a shortage.  As for blaming them of giving orders to the people who are Conservatives that may be that most businesses are supportive of the Conservatives because they understand the it’s businesses that give us the work that we need to do to earn money.  Being a bit late  with the statistical data is against the letter of the law but entirely foreseeable under the circumstances.Labour hasn’t a clue other than to say they will go for the populist vote for raising wages in the NHS with no idea how they will afford it.   Wry little praise in the media for an excellent vaccination scheme just look at ways to criticise.  It’s a shame but I imagine that Boris will go the same way as Churchill. Before the next election he will be removed just a Churchill was after the war.

Dominic Cummings

30 May 2020
The only crime Dominic Cummings has committed is his inability, like most men, to say sorry.  He made a questionable call whilst under pressure from all the work that his is doing as part of the government and having a sick wife and a potentially sick child which would have left him in a very difficult position.
  • The Media hate him because he does not dance to their tune and he treats them as we all would like to as the lowest of the low.
  • The opposition hate him because he masterminded the election campaign  which resulted in the Conservatives winning a record number of seats from Labour
  • Some Conservatives and Civil Servants hate him because he carries a tough message about reform.  I have commented in the past as to the issue of the Civil Service and it protectionism which prevents an elected government doing what its manifest stated.  Some Conservatives see him as a threat to them.
If he had said Sorry to this people who felt he did not behave sensibly then the matter would have been solved.  As it was the media went after him on a witch hunt when there appeared to be a much more serious situation in Ireland where hundreds of mourners who turned up to a funeral ignoring the police who were trying to keep people safe.  Where is the prolonged hounding of these idiots to find out why they disobeyed the “law?”  Talk about double standards.
Cummings Press Conference was very good where he addressed all the questions thrown at him which left the media as a babbling group unable to come up with any sensible questions
Did my ears deceive me or did Mr Robinson at 6:40 am the other morning use the word “good” when reporting on the daily newspapers that Mr Cummings was likely to resign within six months? If this is the case then yet again we see an example of the Today programme using journalistic bias in its reporting. Another example of why the Today program has lost its way when it comes to journalistic excellence.
One day the news media will wake up and smell the burning of their own hypocrisy

BBC Complaints procedure

23rd May 2020
My complaints to the BBC about their coverage continue.  It appears that my emails to BBCnews@BBC.co.uk are being sent back.  I wonder why.  The last reply I received about the press conferences being cut off didnt even anser my complaint so I have returned the complaint and await an answer.  Added a bit extra about Kunessberg sarcastic and confrontational questioning which suggests that she has an opinion that we are interested in.  When will this woman learn she us surplus to requirements. The experts at the press conference continue to be excellent and show how miss reported the news is after the experts have made their statement.  Thankfully they are not afraid to contradict these moronic journalists from BBC and Channel 4.
Thank you for contacting us regarding BBC News Special: Coronavirus Daily Update.

To allow us to reply promptly, and to ensure we use our licence fee resources as efficiently as possible, we’re sending this response to everyone. We’re sorry we can’t reply individually, but we hope this will address most of the points raised.

Downing Street confirms the timings of the briefings every morning and we work hard to accommodate these in our schedules. Our coverage takes place across two channels, BBC One and the BBC News Channel, both of which have the News at Six programme scheduled as normal.

As we’re sure you already understand, BBC News is following the government guidelines and is only allowing essential staff to work. Due to this simplification of our television and gallery staffing we do not have the capacity we would normally have had to keep the coverage of the briefing running on BBC One and the BBC News Channel when the News at Six programme is due to start on BBC One.

Where we cannot provide continuing television coverage of the briefing we will be pointing audiences to Radio 5 Live as we did over the Easter weekend.

We are continually talking to Downing Street about future timings and looking at our own contingencies. BBC News will always maintain the highest possible standards of bringing the latest news stories to our audience, however during these unprecedented times there may be the occasional scheduling changes.

Thank you for contacting us about our coverage of the Government’s daily coronavirus briefing from Downing Street on Monday 11 April 2020. We show this briefing each day across two channels, BBC One and the BBC News Channel, both of which are available to everyone in the UK.

Having a continuous news channel allowed us the flexibility on Monday to run the entire Government briefing on the News Channel, while the ‘News Special’ on BBC One returned to the studio to provide analysis and comment about the Government’s new coronavirus guidance. The newsreader Fiona Bruce informed viewers at the start of the ‘News Special’ programme that coverage of the briefing was on both channels, and when we left the briefing on BBC One she clearly announced coverage was continuing on the News Channel.

We trust this explains our approach to our coverage of the daily briefing on this occasion. Please rest assured your comments have been shared with the programme team.

We are sorry to learn you weren’t satisfied with our earlier response and appreciate that you felt strongly enough to contact us again.

YOUR COMPLAINT:
Your answer to my previous complaint does not address the issue that the press conference was cut short on both the BBC1 and BBC News channel on the two occasions referred to or why there is not a full version on IPlayer or somewhere else.
You also do not answer my bullet point referring why emails to BBC News are being undelivered?
Another point I wish to raise is the ineffectual questioning by Ms Kunessberg as part of the Press Conference. Her confrontational approach does not help with the public understanding of the news Accusing the PM of changing his mind is trying to gain votes is outrages grandstanding where a journalist tries to look tough. It doesn’t work it just shows she is running out of sensible questions and we, the public, don't get answers to far more important questions. Why can’t the approach be seen as a politician who listens and adjusts his plans accordingly.
Bullet points for answers
Why no system to see the full press conference on IPlayer?
Why is BBC News email blocked?
Why is Ms Kunessberg and the rest of the political team focussing on point scoring when that’s the role of the opposition? Why are we not getting questions on clarification of facts?
